About Roanoke Wildlife Rescue
Hope Begins Here for Injured, Orphaned, and Sick Wildlife
Hope begins the moment an injured, orphaned, or sick animal reaches our care — and we make it easy for you to help. When you find wildlife in distress, you don’t have to wonder what to do. We provide expert treatment, safe shelter, and clear guidance, giving you peace of mind and turning your compassion into real impact as animals heal and return to the wild.
Who We Are: Helping Wildlife Heal. Helping Communities Learn.
Roanoke Wildlife Rescue, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, provides expert rescue and rehabilitation for injured, orphaned, and sick wildlife across Southwestern Virginia. We restore wildlife to health, ensuring animals get the help they need, and provide education and guidance that helps our community coexist safely and confidently with local wildlife.
What We Do: From Rescue to Release — Compassionate Care at Every Step
Since 1988, we’ve provided specialized care for rabies vector species, such as raccoons, foxes, skunks, groundhogs, and bats, as well as other native wildlife in need. When you find an injured, orphaned, or sick animal, we remove the uncertainty and risk by offering expert evaluation, treatment, and safe, species-appropriate housing. Our work gives you peace of mind and provides each animal with the best chance to heal and return to the wild where it belongs.
Why It Matters: Safeguarding the Natural Resources That Sustain Us
Every species helps keep our planet in balance, and when wildlife suffers, communities feel the effects through weaker ecosystems and fewer natural resources. By protecting wildlife and their habitats, we help keep your air cleaner, your environment healthier, and your community more resilient. Your involvement offers peace of mind, knowing you’re helping create a stronger, more sustainable world for today and the future.
How You Can Help: Be the Reason an Injured or Orphaned Animal Survives
Your support turns concern into real impact. When you donate, volunteer, or share our mission, you provide the medical care, nourishment, and safe shelter vulnerable animals need. You no longer have to wonder how to help — your actions directly save lives and give wildlife the chance to return to the wild. Together, we make healing possible.
